Playback Nigeria Theatre Festivals

Transforming social issues through theatre

Since 2018, Playback Nigeria with the support of AIT and NAPPS FCT has organized the International Children’s Theatre Festival under the umbrella of the Playback Nigeria Theatre Festival. The performances focus on myriad challenges faced by children and which are rarely discussed publicly, for fear of being criticized and ostracized by society. Through art modes such as theatre, drama, music, dance and spoken word, these issues are discussed in a safe and creative space.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of the International Children’s Theatre Festival 2022 is to:

·         To use the performance as tools to raise social awareness about unpopular issues children are faced with including harmful traditional practices and proffer community based solutions in addressing them.

·         Support young performers in creating theatre and performance art that can be witnessed in real time by artists and audiences from all over the world.

·         Introduce the performers to new performance style and techniques through direct mentorship,
