Playback Nigeria is open to providing learning platforms through internship and volunteering opportunities for youths interested in Theatre for Social Change. These positions include administrative and creative enterprise staff within the organisation.

Please Note: Playback Nigeria does not pay interns and volunteer staff. However, Volunteers and Interns are usually given top priority in case of recruitment opportunities.

Positions includes but not limited to

Project Manager

The Project Manager will be responsible for over-seeing the day-to-day delivery of the organisation’s project, providing technical oversight to the project officers, and representing Playback Nigeria in the different forums.  S/he will also be responsible for drafting programme reports as per the established reporting timelines agreed upon between Playback Nigeria and partners.

Location: Abuja office

Project Officer

Responsible for day-to-day implementation of Playback Nigeria’s humanitarian projects.  The project officers will work directly on implementing project activities.

Location: Abuja office

Language: Fluent in English

Needed skills:

  • Thorough familiarity with word processing, spread sheet, and project scheduling computer applications.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently,
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot, and to meet short- and long-term deadlines

Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

Responsible for the research, monitoring and evaluation functions in the organization.  Main tasks related to the projects will be on conducting research, designing data and reporting templates for the different field teams as well as providing guidance on their use; maintaining all project data; tracking progress of the project’s implementation to ensure that management is alerted to any deviations from the set targets on time; and documenting case studies as may be required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist with formulation and update of PBN relevant documents
  • Assist periodic review of PBN implementation, monitoring and reporting mechanism
  • Train  and  support  project  staff  and  partners  on  PBN  methodology,  technical  issues  of  data collection and entry
  • Assist in preparing technical papers, reports and status reports for management and partners/donors
  • Assist  with  timely  processing,  analyzing  and  dissemination  of  project findings  and document best practices to facilitate evidence-based planning, learning and decision making
  • Conduct field missions to monitor programme implementation and verification of data provided
  • Assist with designing and implementing survey and studies
  • Supervise data entry

Finance Officer

This  position  deals  with  the  accounting  and  financial  matters  of  the  organization.  The primary purpose of this position is to assure that projects run smoothly and without disruptions with respect to financial and reporting needs.

  • Responsible for all accounting, bookkeeping and fiscal management of project funds.
  • Tasks include withdrawal and dispensing of funds needed for activity implementation, and ensuring that funds are spent in accordance with the budget, and that expenditures are well documented with all relevant support documents.

Location: Abuja office

Language: Fluent in English (Kanuri and Hausa is an added advantage)

Finance Officer’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Checking and preparing vouchers and journal entries in line with project requirements
  • Maintaining bank transaction
  • Maintaining petty cash book
  • Maintaining voucher file for bank payment/receipt, journal and others
  • Field visit for financial monitoring as and when needed
  • Ensuring IOUs are settled within prescribed time
  • Disbursing cheques to Project’s vendors and partners
  • Ensuring deduction at source and advance payment of income Tax and VAT from all kinds of payments and safe keeping of the Tax issues
  • Assisting the Finance and Administration Manager in executing financial activities
  • Supporting the Finance and Administration Manager in preparing for external audits and works with external auditors
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities

Additional important duties performed occasionally:

  • Assists in monitoring the expenditure processes in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Ensures the veracity and authenticity of Project’s financial transactions
  • Supports administration in the procurement process
  • Maintains integrity and confidentiality of all the financial transactions

Media, Communication and Documentation Officer

Location: Abuja office

Language: Fluent in English and Hausa (Kanuri is an added advantage)

Responsible for documenting the progress of organization’s projects, documenting case studies and communication resources for the projects.  Research – Carry out research into the attitudes and perceptions of the target audience, monitor forums, social media sites, project review sites and the press to assess attitudes about the organization.

Advice – take account of both positive and negative attitudes toward the organization. Prepare reports for the management team and partners, set up media interviews for senior executives, encourage executives to comment on issues in the press, prepare presentations and papers for executives who are speaking at conferences.

Press Relations – provide the media with information about the organization and its projects, prepare news releases when the organization launches projects or upgrades existing ones, write news releases about organization significant events and projects. Arrange news conferences to make important announcements and deal with inquiries from the media.

Publications – Writing communications material – plan content and write copy for publications such as newsletters, IEC leaflets, corporate brochures, annual reports and magazines. Write content for website pages and scripts for presentations and videos.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist  to ensure  compliance  of activities with project communication strategy  by following donor and Playback Nigeria’s guidelines
  • Develop key promotional messages in consultation with the CEO
  • Participate in developing and evaluating feasibility, efficiency and quality of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials
  • Assist in coordinating communication activities and events of the project and partners
  • Assist  in  conducting  awareness  raising  campaigns,  events,  information  dissemination  workshops, etc. for target groups
  • Undertake sporadic field visits to monitor programme implementation and liaise closely with target groups
  • Participate in donor visits for showcasing project progress and achievements
  • Take lead in dissemination of communication materials to relevant stakeholders
  • Draft case studies and relevant project documents and suggest recommendations on varied issues (as and when required)
  • Maintain documentation management system (hard copy and on network)

Fundraising / Administrative Officer

Responsible for raising money on behalf of organization and creating initiative and curating projects for the organisation to generate funds. It’s the incumbent’s job to deliver workable ideas to hit the dreaded annual targets and then turn it into a reality. Using a range of promotional methods, productions and campaigns, the incumbent work hard to raise money either from generous individuals or secured grants.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The individual must possess the following qualifications:

  • At least a Bachelor degree
  • Computer literate (advance knowledge in excel is preferable)
  • Ability to work in a team and to tight deadlines and in a dynamic work environment
  • Good reporting and analytical skills
  • Good command over verbal and written communication in English

Responsibilities:

  • Developing strategies and setting goals to hit fundraising targets
  • Writing proposals that could attract money, including applications for grants
  • Finding people to donate money
  • Keeping in touch with existing donors and stakeholders
